Artist Trust Seeks Major Gifts Officer

Scope: The Major Gift Officer will be a dynamic, experienced individual who will make contributions to Artist Trust's individual giving by cultivating and soliciting mid-range and major annual fund gifts. Working with the Development team, (staff, board and consultants) the responsibilities of the Major Gift Officer will be to research, identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward mid-range and major gift donors. Additional duties associated with this position will be to assist with corporate and foundation outreach, conceptualize and support special events, and write customized proposal materials as necessary.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Manage a portfolio of mid-range and major gift donors, including ongoing cultivation of new prospects, stewardship and reporting;
• Support and provide value to the development team, including the Dir of Development and the Executive Director;
• Actively identify new prospects;
• Track and rank new and existing prospects;
• Work effectively and collaboratively with program staff on proposal content and budgets;
• Conceptualize and support special events;
• Be an ongoing and proactive advocate for Artist Trust within the community at-large by attending appropriate functions and events;
• Maintain donor records and files;
• Willingness to develop a deep knowledge of Artist Trust various projects and initiatives.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong communication skills;
• Ability to gain working knowledge of AT's policies, procedures, and practices;
• Ability to act as a representative of AT to the public;
• Knowledge of professional fundraising standards and practices;
• Two to five years experience in securing major gifts 
• Ability to manage multiple priorities;
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Raiser's Edge database software.

Other
• Attends some Board meetings and all Auction Committee meetings.  Attends other committee meetings as necessary.
• Attends bi-weekly staff meetings and periodic staff planning retreats.
• Executes initiatives which assist in the efficiency of Artist Trust fundraising efforts.
• Supervises preparation of mail lists for Artist Trust publications, and sale and trade of list to other art organizations.
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS
• BA, plus three to five years development experience in a non-profit environment, including special events management.
• Superb writing and editing skills.
• Computer literacy required; excellent database, word-processing, spreadsheet skills required. Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge software and Desktop publishing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of NW artists, arts venues and arts supporters. Familiarity with current arts events, issues, and trends.
• Exceptional organizational abilities and independent initiative.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, and to work accurately under deadlines and the pressure of a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent communication skills; discretion and diplomacy in dealing with the philanthropic sector.
• Team player, with capacity to be resourceful and flexible.
