Artist Trust Announces Recipients of the 2005 Artist Trust/Washington State Arts Commission Fellowships!

Artist Trust proudly announces the 21 recipients of the distinguished 2005 Artist Trust/Washington State Arts Commission Fellowship in CRAFT, MEDIA, MUSIC, and LITERARY ARTS. Each recipient will receive an unrestricted cash award of $6,000. The award recognizes an artist’s creative excellence and accomplishment, professional achievement and continuing dedication to their artistic discipline. This year, the Fellowship Program received a total of 315 applicants from artists working in Craft, Media, Music and Literary Arts. Recipients were selected by peer review panels comprised of artists and arts professionals from across Washington State. (A complete list of recipients and panelists can be found below). Fellowship recipients will be featured in the upcoming 2005 winter edition of the Artist Trust Journal and on Artist Trust’s website at www.artisttrust.org/grants/recipient_profiles/FELL/current.

Through the Artist Trust/Washington State Arts Commission Fellowship program, Artist Trust has successfully awarded $1,557,000 to 288 artists. Since 1993, Artist Trust has maintained a successful cooperative partnership with the Washington State Arts Commission to administer six Fellowship awards on behalf of the State of Washington. Through the Fellowship Program, Artist Trust makes awards to artists working in four disciplines on a two-year rotating cycle. Applications will be available in April 2006.

In addition to the Fellowship Program, Artist Trust administers the Twining Humber Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement, which awards $10,000 to a female visual artist, over 60 years of age. Please contact Fionn Meade for more information on this year’s Twining Humber Award nomination process. Artist Trust also offers the Grants for Artist Projects (GAP) Program for artists of all disciplines, which awards project grants of up to $1,400 to develop, create or present new work. GAP applications will be available in December 2005, and will be due on February 24, 2006.
