Artist Trust Supports 52 Artists with GAP Awards!

Artist Trust is proud to support 52 recipients through the 2006 Grants for Artist Projects (GAP) Program. The GAP Program provides up to $1,400 to individual artists for various projects. This year, Artist Trust received 690 applications from artists working in all disciplines across Washington State. 52 Awards totaling $70,033 were distributed to recipients in June.

This year’s recipients were selected by review panels made up of artists, past Artist Trust grant recipients, and arts professionals from Eastern, Central and Western Washington. A complete list of 2006 recipients and selection panelists can be found below.

The GAP Program is one of three annual grant programs offered by Artist Trust to individual Washington State artists. The foremost criterion for selection is the artistic excellence of an applicant’s artwork. Panelists are also asked to respond to an applicant’s project proposal and the feasibility of their project. Selection panels rotate annually. GAP recipients and their projects will be featured in the upcoming 2006 summer edition of the Artist Trust Journal and on Artist Trust’s website at www.artisttrust.org/grants/recipient_profiles/GAP/current.

In addition to the GAP Program, Artist Trust administers the Artist Trust/Washington State Arts Commission Fellowship Program and the Twining Humber Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement. Artist Trust is also a vital information resource for artists, providing professional development information through print, website, telephone and email.

Support for the 2006 Artist Trust GAP Program is generously provided by the Edie Adams, Kenneth and Marleen Alhadeff. Charitable Foundation, Paul G.
