For Immediate Release Contact: Heather Helbach-Olds, Director of Programs ARTIST TRUST ANNOUNCES RESIDENCY PARTNERSHIP WITH CENTRUM Artist Trust is proud to announce the creation of a new partnership to offer residencies for artists. Artist Trust is partnering with Centrum – a gathering place for artists and creative thinkers from around the world, located at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend, Washington – to provide residencies for artists. In conjunction with this year’s Grants for Artist Projects (GAP) awards, four of this year's GAP recipients have been selected to attend residencies at Centrum. This is the first of a three-year partnership to offer these residencies. This year’s residency recipients are visual artists Dionne Bonner and Karen Rudd and musicians Tiffany Li-Chin Lin and Cuong Vu. Each artist will have private accommodations and access to the variety of studio resources at Centrum, plus a stipend for travel, living expenses and supplies. “A recurring refrain we hear from artists is to have the time and space to develop an idea and to stimulate their creative muses. So we are delighted to be able to partner with Centrum to provide this great opportunity.†“Since being founded in 1973, Centrum has served as a gathering place for artists—young, emerging, aspiring, professional and master. Partnering with Artist Trust allows us to combine our resources and offer artists the time and space in which new art and ideas can be imagined, developed and shared. It’s a natural collaboration.†The four residency artists were selected from this year’s GAP recipient pool. GAP recipients were selected by review panels made up of artists, past Artist Trust grant recipients, and arts professionals from Eastern, Central and Western Washington, as well as Oregon. A complete list of 2007 GAP recipients and selection panelists is included with this release. For information on Artist Trust, visit www.artisttrust.org. Artist Trust is a not-for-profit organization whose sole mission is to support and encourage individual artists working in all disciplines in order to enrich community life throughout Washington State. Centrum is a gathering place for artists and creative thinkers from around the world, students of all ages and backgrounds, and audiences seeking extraordinary cultural enrichment. :: :: :: |
