As a full-time studio artist, a grant makes a profound difference in the scale, ambition, and experimental edge that I can bring to the work. For many writers like myself the path of writing is undertaken primarily as a calling with only secondary considerations for monetary reward. Both the funding and recognition are of considerable importance.  High resolution images and portraits for all artists are available.
