On June 16, 2007, Art Took Flight! This unique collaboration between Artist Trust, the Drachen Foundation and Mighty Tieton brought together over 300 artists and art lovers from Eastern and Western Washington in the beautiful Yakima Valley town of Tieton. It was an art-filled day with many highlights including:
- Art Installations and exhibits by Diego Samper, Susan Robb, PUNCH Gallery, Trimpin and Hector Acebes;
- Kite-making demonstrations by intrepid team from Drachen Foundation;
- Unique poster printing in the book arts studio by Carla Schultz and book-binding demonstrations by the Marquand Books team;
- An Artist Trust Artists’ Moving Forward: Resources for Artists Workshop;
- A truly unique improvisational musical composition with Trimpin, Paul Rucker and Libby Kopcynski.
The risk to put art in the sky paid off for Artist Trust. With ticket sales, art sales and generous pledges from the audience, we exceeded our expectations! But more than that we were able to promote Artist Trust's artists and services to the arts community in Eastern Washington. The benefits of this will continue to reverberate as we share our mission and values of supporting art at its source to the entire state of Washington!
More on Art Takes Flight...
