Twining Humber Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement

The Irving and Yvonne Twining Humber Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement is an unrestricted award of $10,000. The award is given annually to a Washington State female visual artist, age 60 or over, who has dedicated 25 or more years of her life to creating art. The award recognizes creative excellence, professional accomplishment and dedication to the visual arts.

A two-step process is used to select the annual recipient of the Twining Humber Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement open nomination, followed by a peer panel review. Nominations are accepted from anyone wishing to nominate eligible candidates and fulfill all requirements of the nomination process. A peer panel comprised of three visual artists and/or arts professionals select the award recipient.

When affirmation comes along I am bouyed and encouraged to press on.
And press on, I will.

Yvonne Twining Humber
This award is made possible by a generous gift from Yvonne Twining Humber to the Artist Trust Endowment Fund. Yvonne, who passed away in May 2004, was a painter of both urban and rural landscapes, and was employed by the Works Progress Administration from 1935 to 1943. Originally from New York City, Yvonne was raised in England and New England and then lived in Washington State for over 50 years. Yvonne established, with the estate she and her husband built together, a means to recognize women artists who have dedicated a lifetime to their artwork.
