HISTORY
Artist Trust and The Longhouse Education and Cultural Center at The Evergreen State College developed a partnership in 2005 to provide a resource for Native artists living in the Pacific Northwest. With initial seed funding from Artist Trust to co-develop a three-year pilot and additional support from the Tulalip Tribes Charitable Fund and the Fund for Folk Culture, the inaugural Native Creative Development Program was launched in June 2005. Propelled by the success of this three-year pilot phase, the Longhouse now solely maintains and facilitates this acclaimed program.

PROGRAM DETAILS
Recipients are awarded funding in the form of project grants. These projects may include funding materials for ongoing projects, traveling to attend training workshops and important cultural gatherings, as well as supporting artist-initiated mentoring and outreach projects. Each of the artists use their funding within the coming year to further their practice as individual artists while also engaging their respective communities. Artists are chosen by a selection committee comprised of Native artists and arts professionals.
