This year's summer film theme is: The Tubs Film Challenge.
Seattle's filmmakers must use the the former Tubs building in the U District to create a film of not more than 5 minutes in length.

The theme of the 3rd festival for digital arts and culture in the city of Vienna, Austria, is UTOPIA, and seeks proposals for contemporary art that deals with concepts of a possible future. No Entry fee. Submit proposal online or by regular mail.

The Literaturwerkstatt Berlin and interfilm Berlin seek short films (15 minutes max) based on poems for the 8th annual ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival, which will take place in Berlin, October 9th through 12th, 2008. No entry fee. Prizes totalling €10,000 will be awarded.

Oslo Screen Festival 2008 seeks innovative and experimental short video works on the theme of alterity / identity. No entry fee. Grand prize is €1000. The festival takes place in Oslo, Norway, October 24th - 26th, 2008.

A new annual film festival, Couchfest, is seeking submissions of films which are less than four minutes long.

The Seattle International Film Festival seeks event interns for several events during the upcoming festival. Event staff will need to be able to think on their feet in a fast-paced atmosphere. Compensation is a SIFF pass that will allow entry to any movie or event, one year SIFF membership and school credit, if applicable. Must be availalbe to work 10 hours a week before and the week after the festival and and 20 hours a week during the festival.

The Reel Women International Film Festival Script Competition seeks original film scripts from women that encourage more diverse and powerful screen images of women. Five finalists and one winner will be chosen from each format (feature-length and short). All finalists will receive a script critique and passes to the Fifth Reel Women Film Festival held annually in March. Entry fee: $45 until June 1st, $55 until June 15th. Scripts must be registed with the Writer's Guild of America. Submissions may be sent by post or electronicall through withoutabox.com.

Cinéma Prospérité is a short film competition seeking 2 - 5 minute documentaries using the power of film to tell the stories of entrepreneurs overcoming poverty. $20,000 grand prize; $10,000 second prize; $5,000 third prize.
