Nia Arts Co-op

What is it? ~The City of Seattle has created a special exemption for local artists to live in Industrial Zones so as to take advantage of spaces not necessarily available in live/work commercial or residential zones. ~Individual warehouse spaces, 15 ft ceilings, 8x10 windows, approx 800-1500 sq ft ready for you to develop to your liking (with some requirements from the City for minimum habitability requirements). ~A group of developers has renovated the old Rainier Brewery building (now housing Tully’s Coffee’s headquarters) and offered some of its space up to artist cooperatives to finalize completion of individual units with affordable rent and an option to purchase these units at a well below-market cost What we are looking for: ~Community minded artists that are willing to develop their individual units (from a blank-slate complete shell to a livable/workable unit) while living in a condo-style environment with fellow artists ~Working artists with portfolios ~Committed individuals willing to share time and skills to maintaining and further developing the co-op. ~Financially and socially responsible folks that will be willing to purchase their unit within 3 years.
