The Ormond Memorial Art Museum is seeking submissions from artists to design, build and install an outdoor, site-specific, 3D tribute to veterans who served in the Korean Conflict.Â
A wide variety of artwork will be considered including figurative, representational and abstract imagery. Artwork materials should require minimum maintenance, be durable and withstand exposure to outside elements. The base of the piece should not exceed 3' x 3'. It will be installed in a garden environment and viewed from a paved garden path from all sides.
Eligibility: Open to all professional artists with previous experience in implementing their work in outdoor, public settings. The artist services will include design of original art work, management of fabrication, installation of the work and availability for media interviews.
Budget: The total contract amount to be awarded to the artists for this project shall not exceed $17,000 and shall include but not be limited to the artist's design fee, materials, fabrication, installation, transportation, insurance, project documentation and a contingency to cover unexpected expenses.
Submission Requirements:
1. Letter of interest in the project - 1 page max
2. Current resume highlighting outdoor installation pieces - 3 pages max
3. Total of 8 images of 4 distinct and completed pieces of artwork (2 of each piece) are required in digital format PC compatible. All images and discs must be clearly labeled with artist name and numbered 1-8 to correspond with a printed identification sheet.
4. A printed identification sheet identifying each work by number including title, medium, dimensions, date, price and location - 1 page

All artists will be notified by September 18, 2009 when three finalists have been chosen.
The art selection committee, representing diverse interests and expertise including the arts, the local community and the military community will review work submitted by artists and recommend three finalists. Each finalist will then be asked to create a site-specific design proposal that will include a scale model or rendering, an itemized budget, and a projected timeline. Each of the three artist finalists will receive a stipend of $300.Â
