Pacific Musicworks / Seattle Chamber Players / Songs of Wars We Have Seen

Mar 4 2010 - 8:00pm
Mar 6 2010 - 8:00pm

Two of Seattle’s most daring music forces come together in Songs of Wars I Have Seen, an evening showcasing the work of contemporary German iconoclast Heiner Goebbels. One of the leading figures in the contemporary music and theatre scene, Goebbels has gained notoriety for his dual emphasis on composing and directing. SCP and Pacific Operaworks bring his virtuosic synthesis of theater, music, art and movement to the OtB Mainstage, pairing it with Monteverdi’s radical operatic fragment Combattimento and a Goebbels composition, Red Run, originally created for William Forsythe’s Frankfurt Ballet. Pacific Operaworks recently made their Seattle debut with a wildly popular rendition of The Return of Ulysses staged by William Kentridge at the Moore Theatre in March 2009. These performances are part of SCP’s Icebreaker V: Love and War and the ensemble’s 20th anniversary season.

Performance dates: MARCH 4-7 8:00pm.
