Grey Gallery and Lounge seeks submissions for the upcoming juried exhibition entitled 5 x 5. The exhibition is scheduled from Thursday, April 8 through Saturday, June 5, 2010.  An opening reception for the show will be hosted on April 8, from 5 – 9pm.

Each of five local artists will be selected by one of five national curators: Edward Goldman Host of KCRW  “ARTtalk,” Steve Kursh Artist- Woodstock, NY, Bob Nugent Artist and Curator- San Francisco, CA, Ford Crull Artist- New York, NY, and Sheila Elias Artist- Miami, FL.   

The premise of 5 x 5 will be to offer five local and emerging artists an opportunity to exhibit their work within a professional gallery setting, while gaining exposure in their community as well as by nationally recognized artists and curators.

By inviting these five curators to jury submissions, we encourage the public to open conversation about emerging arts in the Northwest, and how it is viewed through the eyes of those from other corners of the country. How does our emerging arts scene in this region differ from other areas? What is considered emerging art at this time? How do the different areas of the country and their corresponding arts communities differ from the Northwest’s?

Desired qualifications for applicants:

-Residence in or near Seattle, Washington

-Visual artists in the earlier stages of their career

-Required mediums include one or all of the following: Painting, Drawing, Print, Installation, Photography, Collage and Sculpture

-Applicants should not have any prior engagements with any other venue to showcase their work within the two months before or after the scheduled exhibition dates

- 4 to 6 low resolution digital images of current work relative to what you are interested in submitting for the exhibition

-Current contact information including email, telephone, physical address and website (if applicable)
