Primary responsibilities: researching KAC history and current operations; researching similar organizations; interviewing people (students, members, staff, instructors, board, donors, etc.); taking candid photos; writing articles related to KAC and its services; and providing general administrative assistance as necessary. The most essential function of this position is the ability to write well. We are seeking someone who enjoys writing, is clear and organized in their writing style, and has a sense of creativity. Ideal candidate should be organized, self-motivated, able to work independently, and have the ability to successfully a launch a new initiative with confidence. This internship requires a commitment of 20-22 hours per week. The position will run from May – August, with flexibility in start and end dates. Schedule and hours to be determined. Intern will be required to spend 4-10 hours at Kirkland Arts Center each week, but some writing and research can be done independently, and due to lack of office space, will be necessary at certain times. Requirements: Strong writing skills. Strong oral communication skills. Outgoing - comfortable interviewing and photographing people. Computer skills. Organized and self-disciplined. Access to own computer and internet. Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook). Familiarity with Photoshop and Indesign. Photography skills and own camera. Experience newspaper writing/reporting. Knowledge of basic marketing/ promotions/ public relations Objectives: To gain the following: Understanding of the inner workings of a busy non profit; Develop interpersonal skillsNon-profit marketing skills; Opportunity to write investigatively and creatively.
