Washington State Arts Commission

Washington State Arts Commission (WSAC) cultivates an environment for creative expression through supporting artists in a variety of ways, including: a competitively based Art in Public Places Public Artist Roster, a roster of professional artists eligible for one half of one percent-for-art projects; The Community Arts Development program provides opportunities and information about arts management to arts organizations and artists, so that they, in turn, can most effectively bring the arts to the public including workshops for artists and nonprofits in professional practices and business; Professional Development Assistance Program provides grants to allow artists and arts organizations to develop through attendance at workshops, conferences or other learning opportunities; resource and directory links; the WSAC Apprenticeship Program, where master artists in traditional arts are given stipends to instruct students of their choosing; Fellowship Awards, which are unrestricted awards to recognize outstanding traditional artists for their contributions to their culture and community; internships and work study positions.
