Pratt Fine Arts Center / ArtSpark Lead Instructor 

Job Title: Fusing ArtSpark lead instructor

Compensation: $25 an hour for teaching 5 hrs a week on Wednesdays.

Structure: This position reports to the Youth Art Works Manager. It is an hourly position. The instructor works closely with youth with special education needs, partnering organizations, and evaluator.

General Duties: The primary responsibility of this position is to create curriculum and teach middle school youth (some with special education needs) glass fusing and slumping.

Responsibilities:
Create curriculum for middle school students with special education needs. The curriculum should follow grants we operate from and integrate various intelligences; Work with evaluator to create evaluation tools; Fill out evaluation after every class and ensure that grants are being fulfilled; Evaluate and adjust curriculum after each quarter to meet the needs of the students and instructors; Prepare all materials for class; Attend three administrative meeting per quarter; Work well with youth and adults.
 
Qualifications:
Love of Art; Sense of Humor; Flexibility; Two years’ experience teaching youth, preferably youth with special needs; Skill and knowledge in glass fusing and slumping; Excellent writing skills; Attention to detail with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; Ability to communicate effectively; Problem solving skills; Good judgment.

Special Abilities: Able to teach youth with behavior disorders and special needs. Ability to be flexible and adjust with program. Ability to keep a positive demeanor under a sometimes stressful work environment and to adapt to an evolving organizational structure.
