Reporting to the executive director, the director of development is the only named development personnel on staff, and is responsible for working with the board of trustees, staff, and volunteers in planning and implementing a comprehensive fundraising campaign. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: directing activities of June gala (next event will take place on June 7, 2008) to net $110,000; research, write, track, and follow up with corporate, foundation, government, and sponsorship grants; help to train board of trustees on development principles and tactics, attend Board meetings, and manage Development Committee; create, manage, and execute other fundraising special events; attend and coordinate asks for individual, corporate, government, and foundation gifts; design and manage annual giving; and other duties as assigned or developed. Bachelor’s degree and three years development experience or equivalent. Special consideration will be given to those within the arts industry or with in-depth knowledge of the people and companies of West Seattle. Proven track record of fundraising from foundations, corporations, government, and individual sources; must be highly organized, have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, have computer savvy, and absolutely must possess fantastic interpersonal relations skills – must have a positive attitude; must want to and be able to work evening and weekend events as needed. Salary is mid-30s, DOE.
