Be a part of the Backpack Project's fundraiser ART ORGY, An Explosion Of Art For the Senses. ART ORGY is the official launch of Action NorthWest's newest program, The Backpack Project. The Backpack Project will provide backpacks to homeless youth. These backpacks will contain clothing, food, toiletries, art supplies and a one stop shop pamphlet that outlines in detail resources regarding: LGBT health, meth issues, jobs, housing, counseling and resources for all youth. This auction will benefit the Backpack Project and proceeds will be used to stuff backpacks for homeless/transitional youth. Also, people will bring art supplies and items for the backpacks to the event. To receive a backpack at a later date homeless/transitional youth must volunteer or work with a program at one of the participating social service agencies. Exhibition & Media Overview (All content is welcome; however, art focused on youth, oppression, homelessness and anti-violence is encouraged): 2-D Media: Painters, mixed media, and photographers. Artists that are early to submit have no size or piece quantity limitation. 70% of auction sales will benefit the BackPack Project and the other 30% the artist will retain. 3-D Media: Sculpture and glass artists our encouraged to submit. Space is abundant for artists early drop off work. Isolated rooms are available for fragile or breakable art. All Participating Artists with this program will have their name put on all brochures, websites and media outlets.
