Job Title: Youth Art Works Instructor
Compensation: $25 per hour for 3 hours per week on scheduled teaching dates each quarter (one afternoon per week).
Structure: This position reports to the Youth Art Works Manager. It is an hourly position and is hired on a quarterly basis. Works closely with some youth with special needs and with staff at Chinese Information and Service Center.
General Duties: The primary responsibility of this position is to plan and teach developmental art skills in one medium per quarter to middle school youth, as well as to complete weekly and quarterly evaluations.
Responsibilities:
•Plan and teach all scheduled classes
•Prepare all materials for class
•Assist Youth Art Works Manager in creating/developing curriculum
•Take roll each class
•Complete weekly evaluation after every class and return to Youth Art Works Manager
•Complete quarterly evaluations at the end of each quarter and return to Youth Art Works Manager
•When possible, attend special events involving ARTSpark students

Qualifications:
•Love of Art
•Sense of Humor
•Flexibility
•One year teaching experience with youth
•Skill and knowledge in teaching drawing, painting, sculpture,
jewelry, glass work or one or more other Pratt-related art mediums
•Excellent writing skills
•Ability to be detail oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to
manage multiple tasks simultaneously
•Ability to communicate effectively with youth, instructors, and Pratt staff
•Skill in problem solving and group management
•Good judgment
Special Abilities: Ability to teach youth with behavior challenges and special needs. Ability to be flexible and adjust with the program. Ability to keep a positive demeanor under a sometimes stressful work environment.
