Mar 14 2008 - 6:00pm Jul 7 2012 - 11:59pm Form/Space Atelier Lecture Series Proudly Presents:  We are living in incredibly momentous times. Our country is engaged in what many consider an illegal war, we’re experiencing ever-decreasing civil liberties and social safety nets, economic insecurity, and rampant government corruption. Due to the influence of corporate power in government and the media, our ability as citizens to affect change is at a low point.  1. If you agree with this assessment, do you see this reflected in the output of artists today? If you don’t agree with this assessment, do you see your point of view reflected? 2. Are artists posing any sort of challenge to the status quo, and is it their job to do so? 3. How much of an influence does the art market have on this kind of content? (Does the art market in a de-facto way conscript artists into the corporate agenda?)  II. Independent and Critic Art Bloggers 1.   Do you think art blogging is re-shaping the way we learn about art on a local level? 2.   Do you think art-blogging has any affect on collectors or the wider public? III. What are your thoughts on general trends in the art world today, (new media, conceptualism) are you bored, excited, etc.? Where do you see it going? This lecture is free. Bread and Wine will be served as is customary at Form/Space Atelier events. This lecture deals with art and politics. Form/Space Atelier scrupulously avoids mixing these ideologies. This type of event will not be repeated, ever.
