Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs & Seattle Department of Transportation / Seek Art and Enhancements Project Manager 

The Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs (Arts) and Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is seeking an Arts and Enhancements Project Manager.

Position Duties:  Coordinate activities and assignments with the Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs (Arts) and Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) staff.  This employee is supervised by Arts and is physically located in SDOT offices in order to coordinate with SDOT planners and other SDOT personnel.  This position is currently funded at half-time.  However, if additional funding is available by 2009, the hours for the position may increase to as much as full-time.
-  Act as Arts and Cultural Affairs liaison to SDOT
-  Advise SDOT project managers division-wide on aesthetic issues and provide design input on capital and other projects
-  Update Arts on SDOT capital and other project status and opportunities and changes in capital project funding
-  Assist Arts staff in establishing annual priorities for SDOT public art allocations and explore and identify opportunities for additional funding or grants
-  Assist in implementing recommendations in the SDOT Art Plan and assist on EIS studies
-  Make presentations, serve on selection panels, conduct public involvement processes
-  Coordinate with the public, other government and non-profit organizations and other City departments
-  Prepare and coordinate review of project budgets and track project expenditures;
-  Conduct project evaluation, assessment and documentation;
-  Prepare written materials such as press releases, grant proposals, contracts and brochures.

Required Qualifications: Three years of professional level experience, including one year of lead experience, administering projects related to art in public places. Professional level knowledge of contemporary art theory and history, artistic media, and arts program administration. The equivalent of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts, art history, studio art, design, or a closely related field, or additional qualifying experience.  Experience in Public Art, as an artist, arts administrator, planner, designer or fabricator; experience with sustainability, community process, collaboration; and experience working in a large organization.  Experience handling controversial/sensitive issues, maintaining confidentiality, and making independent judgments. Excellent organizational skills, ability to perform a wide variety of tasks, ability to re-order priorities. Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate their commitment to create and sustain a workforce free of racism and discrimination and that values multiculturalism and diversity as a workforce and community asset; must have proficiency with computers and software applications including Word and Excel; must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends. Washington State driver's license or equivalent mobility.
