Washington State Convention & Trade Center / Seeks Artists

"The Galleries", the temporary art exhibition space at the WSCTC seeks artist groups for the 2009-10 exhibition schedule.

The deadline for proposals is June 6, 2008

Proposals are now being accepted for the quarterly rotating art program in calendar years 2009-2010 within the Washington State Convention & Trade Center (WSCTC) public space. "The Galleries" are open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for all convention delegates, visitors and citizens to enjoy (an estimated 500,000 people annually).

Each quarterly show may include up to 60 framed works on 200 linear feet of wall space. The Exhibitor is responsible for shipping, handling and the delivery all artworks, as well as securing the works during ingress/egress. The WSCTC contracts for professional installation of the exhibition, provided all artwork conforms with the exhibition guidelines as specified in the signed exhibition agreement with the sponsoring group.

Exhibiting groups may be asked to attend an Art Committee meeting, to provide more complete information about their exhibition, including the jurors for the show. A panel including arts professionals and community members will select the successful proposals from the representative works submitted. The selection panel will base their decisions on artistic merit, appropriateness to the stated theme, and artistic and geographic diversity.

Proposals must include information on the group, the proposed exhibition concept, and eight representative and recent digital images of the proposed works, along with any brochures or other printed material which may be appropriate. The two-dimensional works are to be framed and the content must be of a nature that a public entity can display for the enjoyment of a diverse, family-type audience. A small number of three-dimensional works may be proposed; they must fit within Center-owned plexi-vitrine cases and present a professional display. Include in the proposal any preference for quarter of presentation, e.g., April - June, 2009. The exact dates for ingress and egress will be established in mid-2008, based on convention event activity and appropriate times for exhibition installation.

Digital Images - Submit a maximum of eight (8) JPEG images (1 image per JPEG), saved to a CD. It is preferred that the images be sized to 1080 pixels on the longest side. Files should be named as "Xof4-Lastname of artist-Title of Work.jpg" (for example, 1of4-Smith-wineharvest.jpg).

Return Envelope - Include a self-addressed stamped envelope that is large enough for return of the CD must accompany application materials. Insurance

The WSCTC will only insure the works during the time they are installed with individual sensors on the two-dimensional works and/or locked in Center-owned vitrines and under an activated security alarm. Exhibitor is responsible to insure works at all other times, and is encouraged to carefully monitor works in the public spaces during installation and dismantle when alarm systems are deactivated and/or vitrines are unlocked. The Center reserves the right to decline display of any works that may not be secured in a manner acceptable to WSCTC Security. Any works not secured by lock or individual alarm are displayed at Exhibitor's sole risk.

Exhibitor is responsible to provide and install wall mounted labels that are no smaller that 3" x 3". All signage and types of labels must meet the criteria established by the WSCTC.
Unless the Center is notified in writing to the contrary, it is understood that the exhibition may be photographed and reproduced in the Center's publications and for publicity and development purposes.
