The world premiere of Kidnapping Water: Bottled Operas seeks singers and drummers.
Kidnapping Water explores human foibles and the forced migration of water. The Bottled Operas are mini-works based on the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching (Book of Changes).
Who should Audition?
Rarefied voices dedicated to singing and creative percussionists dedicated to exploring new sounds with water.
Where are the Performances?
Waterways (rivers, lakes, fountains) throughout King County as part of 4Culture's Site-Specific Performance Network this summer. This includes performances as part of the Bumbershoot Festival of the Arts (Aug 29-31). In addition, the Bottled Operas will be recorded and filmed for an audio/video installation at the Jack Straw New Media Gallery in Sept 2008.
Compensation?
Kidnapping Water performers receive $800 each for their participation.
Audition Preparation?
1 Perform an excerpt from a short vocal or percussion work.
2 Material from Kidnapping Water will be learned at the audition.
3 Bring a resume or bio.
