The Art in Public Places Program of the city of Redding, CA seeks an artist to create a permanent outdoor site-specific installation in the Redding Downtown Plaza. $50,000 budget. The mission of this public art program is to augment public spaces throughout the city with works of art ranging from paintings, murals and outdoor sculptures to functional works integrated into architecture and community infrastructure. The Downtown Plaza site is at the center of Downtown Redding. The pedestrian-only corridor is a former section of Market Street. The limits of this project are approximately three city blocks, or 1,000 lineal feet. The new Shasta College Health Sciences & University Center anchors the north end of the Plaza.
