Shunpike / Seeks Communications Intern 

Position Overview
Shunpike’s Communications internship will provide hands on experience to those interested in a career in communications and marketing. The Communications Intern will assist the Executive Director with Shunpike’s communications, including press releases, website maintenance, newsletters, archiving, brochures, and social networking sites. The intern will work with and report directly to the Executive Director.

Internship Outline
The Communications Intern will be expected to:
• Assist with the drafting and distribution of Shunpike’s Quarterly Press Release
• Perform website maintenance, edits and updates
• Draft and edit the monthly newsletter
• Create and maintain an archive of press clippings, photos and marketing materials for Shunpike and its Partner Artists
• Coordinate or execute photography at events, workshops, and seminars
• Coordinate or execute design and production of marketing brochure
• Maintain presence in online social networking environments
• Assist with enforcement and recording of marketing requirements for Shunpike Partner Artists
• Assist with drafting annual Communications Plan for Shunpike
• Assist with updating online listings on various arts information resource sites
• Help create and assemble Press Pack and Donor Pack

Additional Information
This is a part-time position (10 hours per week), with flexible hours and location, but will require a minimum six-month commitment. Shunpike’s office is located in Pioneer Square in Seattle.

Candidate Requirements & Applicable Skills
The internship is created for candidates who are working towards a career in communications and who are interested in gaining hands-on experience with communications and marketing. Ideal candidates will have a background in the local arts and culture community, a bachelor's degree, and excellent writing and verbal skills. Familiarity with working in html and experience with photography and graphic design a plus. The intern must also have efficiency in using the Internet for research purposes, strong organizational skills and a sense of humor.
