911 Media Arts Center is looking for self-motivated individuals with an interest in working with a nonprofit arts organization and/or working in the independent film, video, and the new media community. We search for individuals who can contribute to and benefit from their experience in our organization. Internships are available for a three month (minimum) commitment. Interns are required to make a ten hour (minimum) per week commitment. All interns should have administrative experience, and a desire to learn and create. Currently, our internships are unpaid. However, during your internship you may avail of discounts on workshops and editing time and equipment on a space available basis. Interns also receive a free one year membership to 911 Media Arts Center. Internship duties can include administrative work, assisting staff with ongoing projects, general office duties, and helping with special events. Applications are reviewed monthly. INTERNSHIP POSITIONS Front Desk/Administrative Support Preferred Knowledge and Abilities: * Strong interpersonal skills necessary. Media Services Assistant As a Media Services Assistant you will work with 911’s Media Services Technician to provide technical support to 911 Media Arts Center students and clients. This position will assist with equipment rental, video duplication, troubleshooting of multi-media applications and setting up designated spaces for workshops and more. In addition, you will help maintain, organize, and repair all media services equipment, hardware and software. Preferred Knowledge and Abilities: * Prior media/video production experience necessary. Screenings Support This individual will provide organizational and technical support to 911’s events (both 911 events and independent rentals). You will work closely with staff and/or clients on coordinating the logistics of events. On the day of an event you will be responsible for set up, ticket sales, A/V support, artist introduction, wrap up and close of building. You will also work directly with 911’s Communications & Development Director on promoting the event including drafting press releases, and creating and disseminating promotional materials. Preferred Knowledge and Abilities: * Strong organizational skills. * Strong written and oral communication skills. Education Department Intern Maintain all processes for class registrations including: Workshop Support: * Prepare class folders. Youth Program Assistant The Youth Program Assistant will assume a lead role in the implementation of 911’s youth programs. You will assist the Education Director in developing and executing video production courses directed toward young filmmakers. Additional responsibilities include: teaching video production courses, supervising students, preparing training materials, coordinating registration and much more. Preferred Knowledge and Abilities: * Prior experience teaching media to youth preferred. Communications & Development Intern This position assists the Communications & Development Director in promoting the mission of 911 Media Arts Center. Key responsibilities include: promoting workshops and fundraising events online and offline; drafting press releases; creating flyers, brochures and other promotional materials; updating and maintaining outreach lists; coordinating mailings; and acknowledging in-kind and monetary donations. You will also assist with member recruitment and audience development efforts. Preferred Knowledge and Abilities: * Strong written and oral communication skills. Open until filled.
