Jack Straw Productions
Jack Straw Productions (JSP), the Northwest’s only non-profit multidisciplinary audio arts center, has been a community-based resource since 1962. JSP had its beginnings as KRAB-FM, a radio station founded by a group of educators, artists, and journalists. As one of the first non-commercial stations in the United States, it provided a forum for the discussion and presentation of arts, science, and public affairs programs. In 1984, the radio station closed and the organization evolved into Jack Straw Productions. Today, JSP provides a production facility that is unlike any other in the region for local artists who work creatively with sound. Dedicated to the creation, production and presentation of all forms of audio art, we Our Artist Support and Writers Programs sponsor annual artist residencies. In addition to the commissioning and presenting of new work, these residencies encompass outreach programs, concerts, and a variety of media products. Over five hundred musicians, composers, audio artists, and writers have been provided with the means to complete recording projects in Jack Straw’s studios, thereby furthering their careers and enriching the arts community of the Northwest. 4261 Roosevelt Way NE Information ResourcesJack Straw Productions / Live-Interactive Residency / Call for ApplicationLive-Interactive Residency will give opportunity to one producer-resident a chance to spend 10 weeks making radio come alive on a locally produced, daily program at a full power public radio station.
