Job Title: Director of Development

Compensation: Based on experience and qualifications

Position
The Director of Development is responsible for designing and executing Pratt’s Fundraising Strategy. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development will work closely with the board of Trustees, the management team and supervise our marketing and growing development staff.  This is a full-time, year-round position. This Managerial position requires the manager to adjust to evening and other flexible hours. 

Structure
The Director of Development is a full time that is exempt from overtime. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with an energetic personality who is comfortable working as a part of a team and working independently.  We are looking for someone with a proven track record of success who can build on the organizational success and growth and play a role in expanding our current development program. Priorities will include Corporate Giving, Major –Donor Program, and Planned Giving. 

Personal responsibility for orchestrating and leading solicitation programs for all fundraising programs in Annual Fund Campaign, Scholarship Solicitations and Capital Campaign, Individual Giving, Planned Giving, Foundation giving, Government Grants, Corporate Support.

Leadership and management direction for
•Special Events (Auction, Holiday Sale, Open House, etc.)
•Capital Campaign personnel and volunteers
•Grants writing and application management
•Database management personnel
•Related Board Committees
•Marketing Department
•Other fundraising

Qualifications:
•Experience in establishing and meeting development goals
•Experience in leading a team
•Ability to integrate into a peer-level working team
•Confidence in working with financial reports
•Excellent communication skills – writing, presentations and personal relations
•Experience in personal solicitations
•Ability to work with diverse constituent groups including principal donors, trustees, artists, etc.
•Experience using Raiser’s Edge software
•Pro-active initiator of task-focused volunteer assignments
•Record of integrity
•High energy motivational skills
•Ability to exude a dedicated passion for creating art
•Minimum 5 years successful fundraising experience
•Bachelor’s degree in related field (master’s degree preferred).
•Sense of humor, and the ability to role with the punches

Special Abilities: Communicate effectively both orally, and written. Ability to be trained on the job quickly, efficiently and accurately. Ability to keep a positive demeanor under sometimes stressful work environment, with an ability to adapt to an evolving organizational structure.
