Biography

Helen Todd is a photographer who focuses on objects and details often overlooked in everyday life. Anywhere there is rusting metal or peeling paint, Helen can be found, searching for a different type of "Northwest landscape". Her evocative photographs encourage observers to take a closer look at the unappreciated beauty of decay.

Helen’s work has been showcased in numerous Northwest art shows, including the Bellevue Arts Museum “ArtsFair”, both the Edmonds and Anacortes arts festivals, and the “Best of the Northwest” shows. Two of her works, “Painted Door” and “Two Paths”, were selected for the 2007 juried show, "Brushes with the Land", at Gallery by the Bay in Stanwood. Helen is represented by Parklane Gallery in Kirkland, Washington.

Helen was born in a small town in England and moved to Virginia when she was seven. She dove headfirst into photography in 1993 when a relative loaned her an old 1960s-era Pentax Spotmatic camera. She hasn't stopped taking pictures since. In 1998, her innate affinity for wet, foggy climates inspired her to move to the Seattle area. She currently lives near Carnation, Washington, surrounded by trees, squirrels, deer, and the occasional bobcat.
