The December 2007 Storm 

 

The most recent storm to hit Washington State caused massive flooding and damage primarily in the western region of the state. To all that suffered during the storm and continue to suffer from the ensuing damage, our hearts go out to you. Artist Trust has put together the following list of organizations that may be able to offer you assistance and/or information: 

General:

Access Washington offers information on where to find food assistance and shelter and much more.

The Washington State department of Health offers information on their site including “Returning Home after the Flood.â€

The King County Office of Emergency Management is requesting that residents and businesses of geographic King County who have suffered wind and/or flood-related losses to their primary home or business from the morning of December 2nd onward report their damages and estimated personal property losses.

Insurance: 

Artist Trust recommends that you document (photos, video) all damage, take signed statements from your neighbors and others that can attest to the damage you sustained. Documentation is vital to seeking compensation from insurance companies or in seeking emergency funding. If you were covered by insurance, expect that your insurance provider will act in your best interest. If you feel that you were not treated fairly, remember that you can appeal your settlement.

Assistance to Artists:

The Artist Trust website, Information Services section offers a listing of organizations that provide Emergency Assistance Programs for artists in times of need. We encourage you to check them out if you have suffered damage or loss from this latest storm. It is for times likes these that many of these programs exist.  Â
