AUDIO WORK SAMPLE TIP SHEET
Presentation
Audio Cassettes:
- Use quality tapes-type 1 or type 2 (normal, bias or high bias, not metal)
- Break out corner of the tape so it can't be re-recorded.
- Label both cassette and cassette box with your name.
- Cue tapes up to the section you wish to be reviewed.
- Put between 5 to 8 seconds between selections.
- Use description sheet to identify and explain to the panel your role in the creation of the piece. It is very important that you convey this information to the panel, if they do not know the specific role you play in the music they are hearing, they will not be able to properly respond to your work.
CD’s:
- Label both CD and CD case with your name.
- Make sure you indicate what tracks you want the panel to hear and where each track should be cued up, if appropriate. Note the section you wish to be reviewed on the description sheet.

Selection:
- Choose a selection that will make your listeners curious about your music and want to hear more. Panel audiences are different than any other listening audience: when you edit your audio work sample, keep in mind that the panel may only take approximately two minutes to review your music.
- Make sure the your first music selection is appropriate.
- Submit more than one musical sample of your work.
- Get listener's feedback: try your audio sample out on musicians or friends who might be familiar with your work.
