Gage Academy of Art / Gage ArtTalk Series: Cris Bruch

Jun 10 2010 - 12:30pm
Jun 10 2010 - 1:30pm

Cris Bruch has long been considered one of the leading abstract and conceptual artists in the Northwest. Sheila Farr wrote in the Seattle Times: “As a sculptor, Cris Bruch has a lot going for him. He starts his artworks with strong ideas, then creates elegant forms that vary in method, scale and material. And — to top it off — he is one dynamite craftsman.” We’ll look at some key works from his 20-year career, including recent public commissions, and his use of unconventional materials like molded paper and shopping carts.

Northwest Film Forum / Curator's Defense

May 17 2010 - 7:00pm
May 20 2010 - 10:00am

Northwest Film Forum dares local arts curators to enter the cinematic ring!

We know how much effort goes into programming each film we play. What better way to spice up our summer calendar than putting our curatorial colleagues in the hot seat and asking them to program their favorite film from the last decade? We also asked them to prepare an oral argument in defense of their selection. The result is an amazing selection from gifted local curators.
