Call to Artists - Tacoma Public Artist Registry - 3 Opportunities

The City of Tacoma and the Tacoma Arts Commission are developing a juried, online public artist registry of visual artists who are interested in creating public art. The registry will function as a public resource directory for privately commissioned artwork. This opportunity is open to City of Tacoma residents.


Ortho-McNeil Neurologics / Sixth Annual Expressions of Courage Art Contest / Seeks Entries

People with epilepsy are invited to submit artwork to the Sixth Annual Expressions of Courage Art Contest. Winning entries will be selected based on creativity and the ability to demonstrate feelings of living with epilepsy through art.


Iowa Department for the Blind / Seeks Artists

The Iowa Department for the Blind, located in Des Moines, Iowa, seeks artists to create two works of art to be installed in the six-story building which houses the Department's programs. 


VSA Arts / Green Light Awards / Seeks Artists

VSA Arts is seeking visual and media artists with disabilities between the ages of 16 and 25 whose work is either abstract or representational for the Green Light Awards. The Green Light theme is to illustrate what signals the artist's creative motivations.
Grand Prize: $20,000
First Award: $10,000
Second Award: $6,000
Additionally, there will be twelve Awards of Excellence of $2,000 each.


VSA Arts / A National Juried Exhibition for Young Artists with Disabilities / Seeks Artists

VSA Arts seeks young artists with disabilities, age 16-25, to participate in a national juried exhibition with the theme: Driven (What moves you to create?) Two dimensional works in all mediums are eligible. Apply online via CAFE system. No entry fee. Prizes from $2,000 to $20,000.

Selected artwork will be part of an exhibition in Washington, D.C. from September 17, 2008 - January 4, 2009 at the S. Dillon Ripley Center of the Smithsonian Institution. The exhibition will then tour throughout the United States for approximately two years. At the end of this two-year period, artwork that is not purchased will be returned to the artists.

The top three finalists will be honored at the opening reception on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. during late September of 2008.
